KENYA LAUNCHES ITS MEGA MEDIA CAMPAIGN WITH A BANG!

The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, in conjunction with Kenya Tourist Board and the tourism industry is hosting a high profile Mega Media familiarization trip with over 200 international travel and lifestyle journalists drawn from Europe, Asia, America and Africa with the aim of launching Kenya’s tourism Publicity campaign.

The initiative is expected to endorse Kenya as a premier destination and generate high level interest through positive international media coverage that will instill confidence in the consumer.

The Mega Media Familiarization trip comes in the wake of a momentous occasion where the Government and the opposition signed a widely applauded peace agreement that brought an end to the post election crisis in Kenya. The media’s first-hand experience of Kenya’s tourism product will help them testify to their audience its uniqueness and confirm that Kenya is back and ready to receive visitors.

The journalists will go on 16 carefully developed itineraries that will showcase Kenya’s unique attractions from all the tourists’ circuit including, western Kenya, central, north rift, Maasai Mara and the coast among others. Other events lined up for the journalists include a welcome cocktail on 8th April 2008, an interactive sensitization workshop on 13th April 2008 with a highlight of the fam trip being a Gala “Bush Dinner” on the same day within the Nairobi National Park-the only park next to a capital city in the World!

The media campaign launch is the 1st phase of the recovery plan. Phase 2 will engage travel agents on a similar initiative and in the final stage, the sector will work with the channels of distribution through a mix of partnership marketing and promotional activities and advertising. Further initiatives with media will be carried out on a continuous basis at the level of individual markets.

“Karibu Kenya”.
