DUE TO THE UNPRECEDENTED INCREASE IN PASSPORT APPLICATIONS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON, PASSPORT PROCESSING WILL NOW TAKE UP TO 10 WEEKS. THEREFORE, STATUS UPDATES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 10 WEEKS PERIOD HAS ELAPSED. THIS NOTICE TAKES EFFECT IMMEDIATELY. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

IN ADDITION, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EMBASSY WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY APPLICATIONS FROM THIRD PARTIES. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE FILED DIRECTLY BY THE PASSPORT HOLDER'.

NOTICE: ISSUANCE OF "B & C" SERIES (48 PAGE AND 64 PAGE) PASSPORT.

* This is to inform all Kenyans in the Diaspora that with immediate effect (September 10,2010) the Embassy of Kenya in Washington D.C is no longer issuing "B" series (48 Page) and "C" series (64 Page) Passports. Anyone who wishes to obtain a new Kenyan passport should therefore apply for "A" series ( 32 Page) passport the cost of which is US $75.
* We do also wish to inform Kenyans in the Diaspora that the Embassy has now stopped renewing 5 year passports (to comply with current immigration regulations in Kenya). Anyone whose passport is expired should therefore make arrangements to apply for a new passport.
* Anyone who wishes to do a name change either through marriage,divorce or deed poll should apply for a new passport.

PLEASE NOTE:

1.Kenyan Passport applications will require you to have the following:

a. Recommender: This is any Kenyan of sound mind who can certify that you are a Kenyan citizen.

b. R. Number: This is found on the Biodata page( Page with your information) under "Personal Number". The Number after the Zeros or on page29/30 of a 32 page passport or page 45 of a 48 page passport.

2. Before mailing your application please read the instructions and use them as a checklist to confirm you have everything.Any application received without a requirement will be returned.

3. Make sure your mail is sent with a tracking number.Track it online at the respective mailing company's website to ensure it has been received at the Embassy.Please Do not call to find out if it has been received. Furthermore using the confirmation number you received upon submitting your application,check the status of your application on the following link 1 week after your mail is received at the Embassy. http://www.kenyaembassy.com/dcservices/applicationstatus.aspx

4. It takes 6-8 weeks to process your passport.Please allow the necessary time period we have specified before calling the Embassy to inquire on the status. We will call you in case clarification is needed or if any additional documentation is needed apart from what is stated on the website.

5. You must have your confirmation number handy when calling the Embassy.

6.Only online applications filled through our Official Kenya Embassy website will be processed .

7. If you are planning to travel in the next 2-3 months make sure your passport is valid.

You may apply for a new passport 6 months before expiry.
